HW091077 is a potent, selective P2X3 receptor (P2X3R) antagonist with IC50 of 17 nM, shows balanced selectivity versus P2X2/3 (IC50=190 nM).
HW091077 shows negligible antagonistic activity against other human P2X receptor subtypes, such as P2X1, P2X2, P2X4, P2X5, and P2X7, by calcium influx assays in HEK-293 cells.
HW091077 shows robust in vivo antitussives efficacy on citric acid/Histamine-induced cough in guinea pigs.
