TAO inhibitor 1 is a potent, selective trypanosome alternative oxidase (TAO) inhibitor with IC50/Ki of 1.3/3.46 nM (purified TAO), displays broad-spectrum activity against african animal trypanosomes.
TAO inhibitor 1 has single-digit nanomolar range against trypomastigotes of T. b. brucei, T. evansi, and T. equiperdum, including drug-resistant strains.
TAO inhibitor 1 demonstrates good safety toward mammalian cells in vitro (selectivity index >2300).
