Splitomicin (Splitomycin) is a selective Sir2p inhibitor, inhibits NAD+-dependent histone deacetylase activity (HDA) of the Sir2 protein wqith IC50 of 60 uM.
SIR2 (SIR2-H286Q, SIR2-L287Q, and SIR2-Y298N) could render yeast cells resistant to the antisilencing effects of splitomicin.
Splitomicin is a useful tool for the evaluation of Sir2p-like deacetylases.
