NBCn2 inhibitor Cmpd38J is a small molecule inhibitor of carbonate transporter NBCn2 (SLC4A10) with IC50 of 20.3 uM.
Cmpd38J does not appear to affect sodium independent anion exchanger AE1 (SLC4A1) uptake activity, but does inhibit NDCBE(SLC4A8) with IC50 of 40.0 uM.
Cmpd38J inhibits NBCn2 in HEK cells with IC50 of 20 uM in the presence of 25mM NaHCO3.
Cmpd38J (80 uM) reduces miniature inhibitory postsynaptic currents (mIPSCs) in the hippocampus, recapitulating findings from NBCn2 knockout animals.
