M344 (D237) is a small molecule inhibitor of histone deacetylase (HDAC) (IC50=100 nM) and an inducer of terminal cell fifferentiation in Friend leukemic cells.
M344 significantly increases SMN2 RNA/protein levels in spinal muscular atrophy cells.
M344 is a potent activator of NF-kappaB transcription factor, increases IL-1 expression yet markedly decreases TNF-alpha expression.
M344 induces ATF3 expression at the protein and mRNA level in a panel of human derived cancer cell lines.
