Etodolac (AY-24236) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that acts as a non-selective inhibitor of COX with IC50 of 53.5 nM.
Etodolac (AY-24236) also inhibits PGHS-2 and shows 10-fold selectivity over PGHS-1.
Etodolac (AY-24236) exhibits 10-fold selectivity for inhibition of PGHS-2 mediated TxB2 production in a human whole blood assay.
Etodolac is licensed for the treatment of inflammation and pain caused by osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
