Enterobactin is an iron transport compound and iron chelator from Salmonella typhimurium, not only help bacteria uptake iron but also reduce the antibacterial activity of macrophages during the process of Salmonella typhimurium infecting macrophages, is also involved in the oxidative stress response of Escherichia coli.
