Desipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant that selectively blocks reuptake of norepinephrine from the neuronal synapse, also inhibits serotonin reuptake, also activates MAPK signaling via ERK1/2, JNK, and p38, represses NF-κB and AP-1 activity, and induces apoptosis via ROS elevation, mitochondrial membrane potential reduction, and intracellular calcium increase.
