Cyanabactin is a potent and selective plant hormone abscisic acid (ABA) receptor agonist that preferentially activates Pyrabactin Resistance 1 (PYR1) with low nanomolar potency, exhihibits a wide spectrum of ABA-like activities.
Cyanabactin potently inhibits HAB1 by ABA receptor PYR1, PYL2 with IC50 of 87, 656 nM respectively.
Cyanabactin has modest activity against PYL5 and no demonstrable activity on other monomeric receptors.
Cyanabactin acts through subfamily IIIA ABA receptors, regulates ABA gene expression (MAPKKK18, RAB18, and RD29B) via PYR1/PYL1 receptors
Cyanabactin treatments elicit multiple ABA responses in both seeds and adult tissues and that genetic removal of both PYR1 and its closest paralog PYL1, which together form the IIIA receptor subclade, eliminates both cyanabactin and quinabactin effects.
